Kisumu Residents Oppose Proposed Ebola Isolation Facility

Kisumu: Kisumu residents have come out to strongly oppose the proposal to establish an isolation facility for Ebola victims in the country. ‘My name is Isaiah Ochieng and right now there’s no Ebola in Kenya but if we host Ebola victims then we shall be extremely vulnerable to the Ebola pandemic and it shall place excess strain on our finances as a country,’ decried a Kisumu resident.

According to Kenya News Agency, another Kisumu resident, Benta Akinyi, also decried the move, saying it will expose the country to infiltration by the deadly Ebola disease. ‘I sell foodstuff at the Ahero bus park and we are scared of opening our country to Ebola; that shall be detrimental and devastating to us,’ decried another Kisumu resident.

The Kisumu residents pointed out that the government should ascertain the security of its people instead of exposing them to external threats. ‘We cannot expose the county to Ebola because we don’t have access to its vaccine in the country; hence, the Ebola victims must not be granted entrance into the country,’ denounced another Kisumu resident, Janet Awuor.

The Kisumu residents appealed to President Ruto to stand his ground with the people of Kenya and not allow entry into the country by Ebola victims. ‘For me as Adhiambo Rael, I am a two-term person up to now and we appeal to our beloved President to put Kenya first,’ pointed a Kisumu resident, who said that they also want President Ruto to urgently intervene to clamp down on the rising fuel prices.

The Kisumu residents spoke in the wake of plans being mooted to establish an Ebola rescue center in the country. ‘My name is Joash Atiang and I strongly denounce the move to allow Ebola victims into our country because this will further strain and even collapse our healthcare system,’ decried another Kisumu resident.
