Nyandarua County has retained four Members of Parliament in a rare feat that sent Majority leader Amos Kimunya and Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni out.
David Kiaraho (Olkalou), Michael Muchira (Ol Jororok) and Kwenya Thuku, (Kinangop) retained their seats with tallies pointing at Woman Representative, Faith Gitau, getting another term.
The region is known for high turnover of elected leaders at every General Election. Kiaraho (Jubilee) garnered 24, 058 votes against his closest rival Samuel Kamau (UDA) at 19, 380. In Ndaragwa Constituency, George Gachagua (UDA) humbled Kioni, bagging 30, 180 votes against 7, 727 that Kioni garnered.
“I promise to continue with my development record that is the reason my constituents have trusted me with this seat for the third time. The UDA wave was strong here yet they chose to retain me an indication that they have confidence in my leadership,” noted Kiaraho, after being handed the certificate by Returning Officer Muhia Njiraini.
East African Legislative Assembly member Wanjiku Muhia (UDA), took home the Kipipiri trophy after garnering 15,196 against Kimunya at 7,295.
Muchira, who defended his Ol Jororok Constituency seat on a UDA ticket retained it with 26,980 votes, beating his nearest challenger Mungai Kiongera alias Express of Jubilee who got 11,683 votes. As the vote counting neared completion Thursday, Woman Rep Faith Gitau, was leading.
Nyandarua has five constituencies namely Kinagop, Kipipiri, Ol Kalou, Oljororok and Ndaragwa, all of which elected Jubilee MPs in 2017.
