Kenya: President Ruto visits France, Senegal

Kenyan President William Ruto left the country Monday evening for a three-day official visit to France and Senegal.
During his visit to France, Ruto will hold talks with his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron.
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed, in a statement on Monday, said talks between the two leaders will center around the status of key development projects agreed upon by the two countries as well as regional peace and security.
Later, President Ruto will proceed to Dakar, Senegal where he will be a keynote speaker at the Dakar 2 Summit on ‘Food, Sovereignty and Resilience.’
“It is an appropriate forum for Heads of State and other partners to discuss how to exploit Africa’s agricultural potential and the plans and programmes that will help scale up production.”
“It will also be an opportunity for leaders in the continent to find ways through which Africa can meet the rising cost of food,” the statement read in part
The summit organized by the Africa Development Bank convenes at a time when Africa is experiencing serious food security challenges.
