KENYA NAVY ROMAN CATHOLIC FAITHFUL HOLD A THANKSGIVING SERVICE

The Kenya Defence Forces Roman Catholic Faithful today, 05 March 2023, congregated for a thanksgiving and fundraising day in completion of the Multipurpose Hall at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in the Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, Mombasa.

The Multipurpose Hall whose construction began in January 2021 is 86% complete and will be used for supplementary church functions including spiritual hour, seminars, youth activities, Sunday school and wedding receptions.

The main celebrant during the thanksgiving mass was the Apostolic Administrator Military Ordinariate Colonel Dr Fr Benjamin Maswili who gave a wonderful sermon encouraging the Faithful to be true to the teachings of the word of God and sacrifice for the less fortunate.

“I urge you to use what God has blessed you with to help those who don’t have for you to get more blessings. Share whatever you have sacrificed or foregone. We are planting a seed for the future which will be harvested by our generations,” Col Dr Fr Maswili said.

Commander Kenya Navy Major General Jimson Mutai while presiding over the fundraising encouraged all the Faithful to be willing to support such programs for the betterment of the Church.

“I thank you all and your families for your support to this church. The church is growing because of you. This project is not only for the Kenya Navy but also for the region and the Kenya Defence Forces at large. I urge all of you to be proud of it,” said Major General Mutai.

Present during the event was the Deputy Commander Kenya Navy Brigadier Lawrence Gituma, Formation Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers, Service Members and Families.
