Nandi: The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination commenced smoothly on Monday morning across the six sub-counties of Nandi County. Despite heavy rains across the region, there were no reported cases of delays.
According to Kenya News Agency, examination collection centers in the sub-counties of Nandi Central, Nandi North, Nandi East, Tinderet, and Chesumei were busy with exam officials, led by school principals, ensuring that papers reached exam centers safely and on time. The heavy rains have put the Nandi County Disaster Management Committee on high alert, particularly in areas prone to landslides, notably in Tinderet Sub-County.
Nandi Central Deputy County Commissioner Alfet Jilo, speaking at the County Administrative Headquarters in Kapsabet, stated that there was no exam disruption reported last week during the Kenya Primary Education Assessment and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment, despite the heavy rain. Jilo noted that National Government Administration Officers are collaborating closely with the County Disaster Management Committee to monitor the situation for emergency response if needed.
Jilo confirmed that all 29 examination centers in Nandi Central Sub-County received their Monday exam papers on time. She emphasized that requisite security measures had been implemented, with full instructions on the exam process. “Our team ensured all Monday exam materials reached exam centers on time with center managers ensuring a smooth exercise,” Jilo said.
Nandi County Director for Education Harrison Muriuki confirmed that a total of 27,272 candidates are sitting for the KCSE exams in the county. Additionally, a total of 28,600 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and 24,600 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) candidates have just concluded their exams in Nandi County.
