Karan Patel, Wins Nanyuki Rally 2022

Kenya National Rally Championships (KNRC) leader, Karen Patel, was crowned the winner of the Nanyuki Rally 2022 Sixth leg, after Raaji Bharij was disqualified, for breaching the competition rules.
According to the KNRC steward, John Kamau, Raaji Bharij and his Co-driver, Ravi Soni, failed to report at control 6B, which is a breach of article 24.2 of the National Competition Rules of Kenya Motorsport, and the punishment is disqualification.
“It is important that competitors follow the provided itinerary as par the road-book. If they don’t, they are disqualified but they have a right to appeal the stewards’ decision in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Article 7.1.5 of the Judicial Rules (Kenya National Competition Rules), Kamau explained.
Bharij had beaten Karan by a margin of 05.12.4.
Karan Patel was navigated by Tauseef Khan, and drove a Mitsubishi Evolution 10.
The total kilometres covered were 216, with competitive mileage being 153 kilometres and 63 kilometres being the liaison distance.
The Saturday event had attracted 21 entrants and started and ended at Greystone in Nanyuki. The race was, however, organized into three stages including Greystone, Mlima Hema and Ole Naishu.
Greystone also has the spectator stage, service park and event’s power stage where the fastest drivers earned bonus points.
Jasmeet Chana and his navigator Ravi Chana scooped second position, Piers Daykin and his co-drive Tariq Malik taking third position. Chana and Daykin used Mitsubishi Evolution and Datsun 280 Z respectively.
Others were, Carol Tundo, veteran Ian Duncan, Issa Amwari emerged position four, five and six. Maxime Wahome was the only woman in the Nanyuki Rally and was positioned eight, using a Subaru Impreza.
The Nanyuki Rally 2022 sixth leg was supported by Quickmart Supermarket, Cedar Mall and Kenya reweries limited through its white cap beer brand.
