Narok: Emmanuel Kirapash, who was serving a life sentence for a murder conviction in 2000, has been granted a presidential amnesty. This significant development has brought joy to Kirapash and his family, ending a long separation that began when he was just 24 years old. His incarceration at Narok GK prison had kept him away from his young wife and two children for many years.

According to Kenya News Agency, Kirapash’s life took a transformative turn while in prison, where he learned and honed his carpentry skills, often spending his time making furniture. His dedication to reform and personal growth did not go unnoticed, as it played a role in the decision by President William Ruto, through the Power of Mercy Advisory Committee, to pardon him.

Expressing his gratitude, Kirapash promised to be a responsible citizen upon re-entering society. He commended the prison management for providing him with the platform to reform, acknowledging the invaluable lessons he learned behind bars. He urged Kenyans to adhere to the law, highlighting the difficulties of prison life and advising people to avoid actions that could lead them there.

In a heartfelt confession, Kirapash shared that he found solace in religion, giving his life to Christ. He sought forgiveness from friends, relatives, and neighbors, assuring them of his commitment to being a reformed individual as he returns to his family in Kajiado County.

Ms. Ann Rita Miti, representing the Narok GK prison management, praised Kirapash as an obedient inmate who had become a skilled carpenter. She called on the church and community to support him in his new beginning, emphasizing his complete reformation and readiness to reintegrate into society.
