JKUAT Admits First Year Students

Parents and students thronged JKUAT for reporting and registration of first-year students admitted to various programmes at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), August 29, 2022.
The week-long activities meant to familiarize the freshmen and women with the University’s activities will take a hybrid approach, where some orientation activities will be done virtually, while others will be in person. The orientation will culminate with the official welcome address by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi on Friday, September 2, 2022.
According to data released by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Service (KUCCPS) JKUAT was allocated 6,463 students. However, this number is expected to increase following the provision by the KUCCPS for Inter-Universities transfers and the admission of self-sponsored students.
With the number of new students expected to hit 7000, Prof. Ngumi believes, this is a clear vote of confidence associated with the quality of training offered by JKUAT. While doing the rounds and interacting with both students and parents, Prof. Ngumi assured them of JKUAT’s commitment to produce a holistic student through quality training.
“As a university, we are dedicated to offering quality training, research, innovation and entrepreneurial skills to produce leaders in various fields. I want to personally guarantee you that you will grow both academically and socially. You chose the right institution where you will acquire new knowledge, develop new skills, and enhance your personal attributes,” Prof. Ngumi assured the students.
During the orientation, students are encouraged to foster a community free of intolerance and discrimination, and to promote an environment that is respectful, civil, supportive and safe.
According to the Vice Chancellor, these core values allow JKUAT to provide a learning ecosystem where all students are given equal opportunity to pursue their dreams and reach their highest apex.
