IEBC Wants Police To Trace Missing Returning Officer

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has called on the security agencies to speedily investigate the disappearance of a Returning Officer for Embakasi East who went missing on Thursday August 11, 2022.
IEBC Chairman, Wafula Chebukati, said the Commission is deeply concerned about the unfortunate incident and has made a report at the Embakasi Police station, of a missing person by the name Daniel Musyoka, the Returning Officer under occurrence book no. 24/11/8/2022.
He said Musyoka left his house at around 9.00am and was escorted by his bodyguard to the office at the East African School of Aviation tallying centre where constituency counting and tallying of election results is taking place.
“The officer excused himself at around 9.45 am to make a telephone call but did not return to the office,” said Chebukati.
Announcing the disappearance on Friday evening at the National Tallying Centre at Bomas of Kenya grounds, Chebukati said the Commission and Musyoka’s family have tried to reach him without success and that his duties are now being handled by the Deputy Returning Officer.
