ICT CS Crowns Winner Of KECOSO Golf Tournament

More than 100 golfers from 14 member organizations of the Kenya Communication Sports Organisation (KECOSO) celebrated a golf tournament hosted at the Kericho Golf Club on Saturday.
KECOSO received a resounding commendation from dignitaries and participants including, after participating in the sporting activity resuming after a two-year break due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Information, Communications and Technology (ICT), Innovation and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Joe Mucheru, who was the chief guest at the curtain raising tournament, thanked the KECOSO governing council for bringing back the sporting activities which he said was good for physical and mental health.
“I am pleased that we are back after the Covid-19 pandemic and as government we want to see these activities going on,” said Mr. Mucheru.
During the colourful evening prize giving party for the golfers, Mr. Abu Bakari clinched the overall winner after garnering a total of 40 points as Isaac Kuto and Hellen Koech clinched the men’s and women’s categories with 39 points and 37 points respectively.
Meanwhile, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) was represented by Kennedy Mbogo who managed a top finish in his category after amassing 30 points while Shirley Achieng was runner up in the ladies’ category.
“I congratulate all the winners for their good performance in the tournament. We celebrate you and wish you well going forward,” said Mucheru.
Other dignitaries present during the auspicious award ceremony was the Kericho County Senator Mr. Aaron Cheruiyot, members of the KECOSO Governing Council, Communications Authority of Kenya, Kericho County Government and office of the Kericho County Commissioner representatives, among others.
According to the KECOSO Governing Council Secretary General Mr. Omole Asiko, the main games will include athletics, basketball, football, and volleyball, which will all take place in Kericho County from 24th to 29th July.
KECOSO is a recreational corporate social responsibility initiative that brings together employees from various government ministries such as; ICT, Sports and Heritage, Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development.
