More than 4000 Students from Kabondo Kasipul Constituency can now afford to smile after the area Member of Parliament Eve Obara issued them with Bursary cheques worth sh26 million.
The National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) bursary cheques were issued at Got Rateng’ Secondary school for Kabondo East and West wards, while those for Kakelo-Kokwanyo and Kojwach were issued at Ringa Boys Secondary School.
Speaking at the function, Obara urged the parents to utilize the support to ensure that their children continue with studies uninterrupted. She also warned the students against laxity in studies.
“I would like to encourage our parents to take their children to school because the government is there to support them, and to the students, please work hard and don’t take this for granted,” said Obara.
On his part, the Constituency Bursary Chairperson, Elijah Othir said that the programme has been going on since 2018.
He lauded the MP for performing well in resource allocations noting that she has awarded bursary to more than 30, 000 students.
“Our MP has worked so hard to an extent of awarding more students compared to the previous legislators who were disbursing average about 5000 bursary allocations,” said Othir.
Parents whose children benefited could not hide their happiness too after getting relieved from paying fees.
Evance Otieno, a parent, appreciated the gestures saying that his son had been stranded due to huge fee areas, but the bursary will now cater for that.
