Homa Bay Highlights Infrastructure Gains In Development Agenda

Homa bay: The Homa Bay County government has outlined major infrastructural and service delivery achievements realised over the past year as it intensifies preparations for the 2026/2027 financial year development agenda. Speaking at the County Assembly, Deputy Governor Danish Onyango said the administration had made notable progress in improving transport networks and access to essential public services across the county.

According to Kenya News Agency, among the key milestones achieved was the opening and maintenance of more than 280 kilometres of roads in various parts of Homa Bay County. The county official noted that the road projects have significantly improved transportation, eased movement of goods and services, and enhanced connectivity among communities. The county government also rehabilitated 38 access roads leading to public institutions, including schools, hospitals, and administrative offices.

In Ndhiwa, the county completed the construction of the Congo Bridge, a project expected to improve connectivity and ease transport for residents and traders within the region. The DG further revealed that construction works on the Abura Bridge in Rachuonyo East were at an advanced stage. Once completed, the bridge is expected to strengthen transport links and support economic activities in the area.

The county administration additionally acknowledged the contribution of technical staff and ongoing fieldwork programs in enhancing efficient implementation of development projects and public services. The DG said these achievements demonstrate Homa Bay’s continued commitment to infrastructure development and improving the living standards of residents through enhanced service delivery.
