Homa bay: Homa Bay County Commissioner Ronald Mwiwawi has expressed concern over rising cases of fraudulent land transactions in the County. The Administrator urged residents to follow the right channels in succession and land issues to curb conflicts.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mwiwawi, speaking during a Jukwaa la Usalama Forum at Kabunde Social Hall in Homa Bay town, cautioned Chiefs against meddling in land transactions. He emphasized that all such processes must go through the Land Control Boards and advised that parties to land sales should never use Chiefs to draw sales agreements. Mwiwawi noted a troubling increase in cases where the same parcels of land are sold to different buyers, leading to disputes.
The County Commissioner also warned public servants against engaging in corrupt practices and advised the public to avoid offering bribes for services. He urged contractors awarded tenders to ensure that public projects are completed on time and meet specified standards. Mwiwawi stressed the importance of vigilance from relevant bodies and the public to prevent substandard work in development projects.
Additionally, Homa Bay ‘Bunge la Wananchi’ speaker Walter Opiyo raised concerns about the disruption caused by a memorial service for the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Homa Bay Stadium. Opiyo criticized the organizers for holding a noisy event that disturbed form four exam candidates and called for a ban on similar ceremonies during exam periods.
