Homa bay: A grade one pupil has died while seven other children sustained injuries after a swarm of bees attacked them at Michacha Village in Samba Sub-location, Suba South Constituency, Homa Bay County. The children were reported to have been playing near their home on Tuesday when they accidentally provoked the bees, prompting the fierce attack.
According to Kenya News Agency, area Assistant Chief Lucas Ocholla stated that members of the public rushed to rescue the youngsters and took them to Magunga Level Four Hospital for emergency treatment. Seven of the children were treated and later discharged. However, one pupil, who had suffered severe stings, was referred to St Camillus Sori Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.
Ocholla urged parents and guardians to be extra vigilant during the holiday season to ensure children remain in safe environments and avoid a recurrence of similar tragedies. The body of the deceased pupil has been moved to the St Camillus Hospital mortuary.
