Gov’t Recruits More Officers To Improve Service Delivery

The Ministry of Interior through the Department of National Bureau of Registration has deployed more officers to speed up the process of issuance of national identification cards.
The 34 recruits including drivers, support staff, clerical officers and assistant office administrators who will serve for six months are part of the over 3,000 youth who applied for the vacancies last year.
Speaking to the recruits during an induction exercise at the County Commissioner’s conference hall on Monday, County Commissioner Sam Ojwang advised the new recruits to maintain discipline as they render services to the local residents.
“Without discipline, your stay in this job may not even last two days,” he said, adding that there will be no negotiations about it.
Busia County Registrar of Persons Aileen Mandi said that the new employees will be posted in different Sub counties within the County and are expected to register about 29,000 people during their tour of duty.
Ojwang further advised the recruits to embrace decorum and refrain from corruption while discharging their duties. “Let nobody deceive you that when you join the service, you will get rich quickly,’ he said, adding that there will be no compromise on integrity.
He at the same time stated that the new employees should handle the local clients with respect. “Respect them because the salary you will be paid comes from the taxpayers,” he said, adding that the change in them should not be in terms of arrogance.
The official further urged them to aim at excellent performance adding that they will be rated by the head of department and reports from local residents.
