The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has started hiring 140 intern teachers to bridge the gap for Junior Secondary Schools in Mwala, Sub-county Director of TSC, Bernard Abuga, has disclosed.
Abuga said the exercise that kicked-off, Thursday, at the Makutano AIC Boarding Primary School attracted close to 269 applicants.
Speaking to KNA during the recruitment, the TSC Director described the turn-out as fair and said the Commission will generate a merit list to hire the interns.
“The merit list will be generated depending on the year of graduation, age and academic performance, “he said.
Abuga, however, noted that applicants aged 50 years and above and those that graduated before 2010 will be given first priority.
The TSC Director said the hiring process was free and fair devoid of canvassing and corruption.
“The exercise is open. The applicants will see their scores and know whether they have qualified or not,” he added.
Fredrick Munyao one of the applicants who had turned-up for the recruitment expressed his optimism that he will get hired.
Munyao who was trying his luck for the third time hailed the process terming it as transparent.
“I trust the process is free and fair. Life has been difficult to me without a job, “he added.
