Bungoma: Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has promoted 305 healthcare workers in a ceremony held at the county headquarters.
According to Kenya News Agency, Lusaka announced that the promotions encompass various cadres, including 117 nurses, 36 clinical officers, 18 lab officers, 17 public health officers, and 11 pharmaceutical technologists, among other specialists.
The governor emphasized that these promotions represent more than just a change in titles; they are a recognition of the sacrifices made by frontline health workers. He assured the newly promoted officers of his administration’s full support, urging them to serve with humility and purpose. “Wear your new ranks with pride and lead with compassion, the county and the country at large entrust you with their lives,” he urged.
Lusaka highlighted his administration’s commitment to ensuring no mother dies while giving birth and no child is lost due to delayed healthcare. He noted that the promotions are a testament to dedication and come with a promise of greater responsibility, emphasizing that no machine or building could save lives without human resources.
“This marks a historic milestone in improving health services across the county,” Lusaka stated, calling upon all stakeholders to unite for a healthier and stronger county. He assured residents that this initiative is part of his administration’s broader health manifesto aimed at making healthcare a right, not a privilege. “I promised to strengthen our workforce and improve our facilities. This is the fulfillment of that pledge,” he said.
The governor also confirmed that he would be signing new partnerships with development agencies to boost infrastructure, training, and medical supplies for the county.
