Governor Badilisha Castigates Residents Encroaching On Road Reserves

Nyandarua: Nyandarua Governor Dr. Moses Kiarie Badilisha has urged residents living along county roads to refrain from encroaching on road reserves, saying the practice continues to hinder the construction of standard roads across the county.

According to Kenya News Agency, the governor, speaking during a development tour of Githioro Ward in Kipipiri Sub-county, regretted that road reserve encroachment had become a major challenge in the implementation of key infrastructural projects. He appealed to residents to adhere to survey maps and respect the designated road boundaries to facilitate smooth road construction and expansion.

Badilisha noted that Nyandarua is predominantly an agricultural county and therefore requires well-developed road networks to support the transportation of farm produce to markets. He added that most of the county’s agricultural produce is transported using lorries and other heavy vehicles, hence the need for standard and spacious roads that can effectively support the movement of goods and services.

The governor highlighted the strides his administration had made in road construction and rehabilitation across Nyandarua, noting that improved infrastructure was contributing to economic growth and enhancing access to essential services. His sentiments were echoed by Githioro Ward MCA Isaac Mbae, who said the area had witnessed major transformation following extensive road rehabilitation works undertaken by the county government.

Mbae noted that roads that were previously impassable had been upgraded, greatly improving accessibility within the ward and easing transportation challenges faced by residents. Area residents expressed satisfaction with the ongoing and completed road works, saying movement within the wards had become easier and more convenient.

They particularly lauded the construction of new bridges, noting that the projects were opening up previously landlocked areas while improving connectivity between villages. The residents further thanked the county government for prioritizing infrastructural development, saying the projects were bringing positive changes and boosting economic activities in the region.
