Trans nzoia: Trans Nzoia Deputy County Commissioner Ibrahim Adan has issued a strong warning against the illegal occupation and grabbing of public land, emphasizing that those found guilty will face arrest and prosecution.
According to Kenya News Agency, Adan addressed the issue during Madaraka Day Celebrations at Machewa Primary School in Saboti Sub County. He cautioned the public against being misled by politicians promising land, particularly in Saboti Forest. Adan stated, “No politician should lie to you. That is public land, and you should keep off. This is the official position of the government,” urging those who have encroached on Saboti Forest to vacate immediately to avoid forced eviction.
Furthermore, Adan encouraged the county leadership and elected officials from the region to redefine their relationship with the National Government for the public’s benefit. He appealed to Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya, a former national government administration officer, to foster trust and collaboration with the national government, stating, “I am kindly calling for cooperation between your office and our office for the sake of the people of Saboti and Trans Nzoia at large.”
The Deputy County Commissioner praised the national government for its implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda projects, which have positively impacted the housing, agriculture, and health sectors. This initiative, he noted, has enhanced the country’s economic status and helped the government deliver on its promise to bring services closer to the people.
In his address, Governor Natembeya urged law enforcement agencies to respect the Constitution in their crime-fighting efforts, emphasizing the importance of upholding human rights.
