Embu: Deputy Head of Public Service, Amos Gathecha, has called on government officers to strengthen collaboration and align their efforts towards realizing Kenya Kwanza’s transformation agenda. Gathecha made this plea at the Kenya School of Government in Embu, where he officially closed a four-day induction workshop for newly engaged Government Delivery Unit staff on behalf of Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei.
According to Kenya News Agency, Gathecha emphasized that the officers bear the responsibility of translating the Government’s vision into reality for every Kenyan. He underscored the importance of focusing on areas such as food security, industrialization, infrastructure development, job creation, and overall well-being. Gathecha challenged the officers to rethink and realign their strategies if their work does not positively impact the lives of Kenyans.
Gathecha promoted the Whole-of-Government Approach (WoGA) as essential to achieving the government’s goals. He highlighted the need for unity under one vision and mission, as articulated by the President in the State of the Nation Address on November 20, 2025. He called for urgency, passion, and commitment from the officers to act decisively.
The Deputy Head of Public Service also urged officers to improve engagement with citizens, especially the youth, who make up a significant portion of the national audience. He stressed that public communication should highlight tangible impacts at the grassroots level, not just outputs. The validation of the GDU Communications Strategy was mentioned as a step towards more open and effective engagement.
Gathecha reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuous capacity building, indicating ongoing investment in GDU teams, Regional and County Development Implementation Committees, and National Coordination Structures to enhance delivery capability. He expressed gratitude to various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, implementing Ministries, Departments and Agencies, County Governments, development partners, the private sector, and the organizing committee, with special recognition to the GDU team for the workshop’s success.
He concluded by acknowledging divine guidance in the process and called for the team to be remembered for contributing to Kenya’s transformation story. The event was attended by notable figures, including Deputy Chief of Staff, Delivery and Government Efficiency, Eliud Owalo; Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy President, Eric Wachira; Regional Commissioners, several County Commissioners, Acting Head of the Government Delivery Unit, Sitati Orlando, and other public officers.
