Trans Nzoia: A foundation that sponsors vulnerable students in Meru County held a mentorship programme for their learners with a view of evaluation of their progress as well as addressing challenges facing them in the course of their studies. Speaking during the event held in North Imenti, Meru County, Kamashinani Foundation’s Director Kathuri Murungi, who doubles as the County Senator and the Senate Deputy Speaker, expressed his satisfaction in embarking on a journey of growth, learning, and empowerment for at least 180 students through this mentorship program.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mr. Murungi stated that the initiative aims to create future leaders, innovators, and changemakers not only within the county but also across Kenya and globally. “I want to acknowledge the hard work and determination that have brought each one of you to this point. You have already shown remarkable commitment to your education and personal development, and we are here today to help you take the next step in your journey,” he said.
At Kamashinani Foundation, the mission extends beyond providing financial support for studies; it is about equipping students with skills, mindset, and opportunities to succeed in all life aspects. Mr. Murungi emphasized that the mentorship program is a vital part of this mission, understanding that with the right guidance and support, challenges can be overcome.
He encouraged students to define success by perseverance, resilience, and integrity, rather than speed in achieving goals. “Set your sights high, dream big, and work diligently. The Kamashinani Foundation will always be here to support you in your endeavors, but the effort you put in will matter a lot in shaping your future,” Mr. Murungi advised.
Meru County Deputy Governor Isaac Mutuma, who also attended the event, expressed gratitude towards the senator and the foundation. He highlighted the significant impact the foundation has on providing educational opportunities for students who otherwise could not afford secondary education. “This will go a long way in uplifting the standards of our county in terms of economy as well as other aspects of life,” Mr. Mutuma noted.
