Former Ruiru Mayor Passes On

Ruiru residents in Kiambu County and the entire colleagues of Municipal and County Councils in the country are mourning the demise of former Ruiru Mayor Geoffrey Kaara.

Speaking to KNA, former Nairobi Mayor and the President of former Mayors Association Prof Nathan Kahara eulogized the late Kaara as a respected leader who helped to foster the development of Ruiru and other parts of Kenya, especially the local authorities.

The former Nairobi Mayor added that despite championing the release of retirement benefits to former Mayors and Councillors, the late Geoffrey Kaara didn’t live to see his goal materialize following his untimely death early this morning in his Ruiru home.

“On many occasions, the former government leaders promised payment of retirement benefits to former Mayors and Councillors but never kept the promise, hence suffering and passing on of very many former leaders,” said Prof Kahara.

On behalf of the retirees, Prof Nathan Kahara appealed to President Dr William Ruto’s government and administration to release the promised funds faster, especially to the suffering former Mayors and Councillors who served in the defunct local authorities.

The former Mayors and Councillors expressed their confidence in President Dr Ruto’s administration that it will give the necessary support to the suffering elderly and ailing leaders who sacrificed their time and efforts in serving the public and should not be left to continue suffering.

The late His worship Geoffrey Kaara , an astute civic leader, served the Ruiru Municipal Council between 1997 to 2007 with distinction , showing exemplary leadership worth being emulated by the current leaders in all the spectrum of the society.
