Elizabeth Kailemia Sponsors Igembe North Learner

Igembe north: Bessy Gakii, from Antubanthea village in Igembe North Constituency, had almost lost hope of advancing her education after sitting her grade 9 exams. Her friends moved on to various schools for grade 10, but Bessy remained at home due to her family’s financial constraints.

According to Kenya News Agency, hope was restored for Bessy when Elizabeth Karambu Kailemia stepped in to sponsor her education. Despite being out of school for months, Bessy is set to continue her studies at Bishop Njiru Girls Kangeta under a full scholarship from the Mama Safi Foundation. Kailemia’s involvement included providing Bessy with a school uniform and learning materials before facilitating her admission.

During her visit to the family, Kailemia emphasized that her support for vulnerable children is aimed at transforming lives rather than gaining political favor. She expressed gratitude to businessman Henry Emma for connecting her to Bessy’s family and urged communities to support their vulnerable members.

Bessy’s mother, Christine Mamii, shared the challenges she faced in raising her children after her husband’s death, which included being chased away from their matrimonial home by her husband’s relatives. She expressed gratitude for the support that has enabled her daughter to continue her education.

Residents praised Kailemia for her support of needy learners. Pamela Mbiti highlighted the restoration of hope within the village, while youth representatives Enock Mutharimi and Samson Kalawa expressed appreciation for Kailemia’s assistance during tough times. Kailemia also pledged her support for women’s groups and advocated for free education from primary to secondary levels, emphasizing that no child should miss school due to lack of fees.

Bessy Gakii expressed her gratitude to the leaders for supporting her education and promised to work hard to improve her family’s future.
