Ahtwana: Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has issued a stern warning to bandits causing unrest in the northern grazing zones, particularly in Meru County, declaring that their days are numbered. He announced the government’s imminent plans for a large-scale security operation aimed at eradicating the banditry and restoring peace in the region.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Deputy President addressed the issue during an empowerment program in Ahtwana ward. He emphasized the deployment of additional specialized security officers and police reservists to the affected areas, reinforcing the government’s commitment to ending banditry and cattle rustling. Kindiki highlighted the success achieved in combatting bandits in Kerio Valley and terrorists in Lamu, indicating that similar strategies would be employed in Meru North.

Professor Kindiki underscored the national scope of the problem, stating it transcends local governance and requires a concerted effort. He assured residents of the Mt. Kenya region of the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises, stressing that the Kenya Kwanza administration will continue to deliver development programs and projects to the area.

The Deputy President reiterated the significance of remaining aligned with the government to benefit from its initiatives, urging residents not to abandon the administration they supported. He affirmed that ongoing projects in the region would be expedited to ensure residents reap the benefits.

The government is currently funding significant projects, including the tarmacking of key roads like Kirindine-Mikinduri and Kunene-Miomponi, which are crucial for economic development. Additionally, modern market constructions are nearing completion, further boosting regional growth.

Addressing the challenges posed by the prolonged dry spell, the DP assured residents that relief food would be delivered to the affected areas, pledging continued support until conditions improve.
