London: On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump is scheduled to arrive in the UK for a significant second state visit, marking an unprecedented event in diplomatic history. Trump will be accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump and will be hosted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle. This visit follows an invitation extended by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on behalf of King Charles during a meeting at the White House, aimed at strengthening UK-US trade relations. Trump described the invitation as a “great, great honour.”
According to BBC, the visit will commence with the Trumps being greeted by US Ambassador Warren Stephens upon their arrival in the UK. The Viscount Hood, Lord-in-Waiting, will welcome them on behalf of the King. The couple will then travel to Windsor Castle, where they will be received by the Prince and Princess of Wales before being formally welcomed by the King and Queen. A royal salute will follow, fired at both Windsor and the Tower of London. The itinerary includes a lunch with Royal Family members and a wreath-laying ceremony at St George’s Chapel to honor Queen Elizabeth II.
The visit will also feature a flypast by UK and US F-35 military jets and the Red Arrows. On Wednesday evening, a traditional state banquet will be held at Windsor Castle, with speeches by both the King and President Trump. The following day, Trump will visit Chequers, the Prime Minister’s country house in Buckinghamshire, for a meeting with Sir Keir Starmer. They are set to view the Sir Winston Churchill archives before conducting a press conference. Meanwhile, Melania Trump will tour the Royal Library and Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House at Windsor Castle, accompanied by Catherine, joint president of the Scout Association.
The visit comes after a previous four-day trip Trump made to Scotland, where he engaged with local politicians and visited his golf courses. Since ascending the throne, King Charles has hosted several international leaders and royals, including French President Emmanuel Macron, the Emir of Qatar, and the Emperor of Japan, showcasing a continued commitment to international diplomacy.
