DCC Orders Closure of Bars Near School

Mukaa: Mukaa Sub County Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Charles Igiha has ordered the closure of two bars at Kwa Kea market. Igiha stated that the bars were operating without licenses from the county government, while also highlighting issues of loud music and their proximity to Kwa Kea Comprehensive School.

According to Kenya News Agency, Igiha has instructed the local chief to ensure the immediate closure of the bars and to arrest the owners along with any contraband liquor found. The individuals and goods are to be taken to Salama Police Station to await prosecution in court. During World Environment Day celebrations at Kwa Kea Comprehensive School, Igiha emphasized, “Chief ensure today the owners of the bars are arrested and their contraband goods are taken to Salama police Station to face the law.”

Residents at the event expressed concerns about the bars operating with disregard for regulations, noting the loud music being played outside of permitted hours. The DCC responded to these concerns by pointing out that the establishments were illegal due to their lack of proper licensing.
