CS Hon Peter Munya flags off 65,000 tonnes of fertilizer to Nairobi, through SGR.

This morning Agriculture CS Hon Peter Munya has flagged off 65,000 tonnes of fertilizer to Nairobi, through SGR. Addressing the press, CS Munya has said that the method of transport, which is being used for the first time is cost effective and fast as it will be at the warehouses in three weeks, ready for distribution to farmers. The government’s aim he said, is to ensure that the primary stakeholder- the farmer, has increased productivity through the input and increase incomes.
In order to cushion tea growers from the upsurge in fertilizer price caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the government will provide a fertilizer subsidy to make the input affordable to farmers.
