Kitui County Governor Dr. Julius Malombe said his administration is working with the national government to put up police stations along its borders with Tana River and Garissa counties.
He further noted that, his administration is working with the national government on the scores of other security issues that once deployed will assure lasting peace and protection to the historical attacks and invasions by armed camel herders as well as other criminals who have for years terrorized locals and farmers residing along the unsecured porous border.
“My county government is working with the national government to address the issue of insecurity in the county, there is need to increase structures to accommodate more police stations, projected to deploy more security officers,” said the Governor.
The Governor while speaking at a burial ceremony in Kalambani village of Mutha ward, in Kitui South, repeated his administration’s commitment to protect the lives and property of the locals.
He further thanked the President for his pledge to operationalize the police stations once the structures are complete.
According to the county chief, the county is consulting the national government to work on the various security projects in its attempt to boost security.
He recalled on occasions where several local residents engaging in farming have lost their lives and property by simply defending themselves from the armed invaders.
The creation of police stations and deployment of officers will play a vital role in bringing law enforcement services closer to the residents hence boosting Security in the region.
The move will also mitigate insecurity and build trust amongst local community members, promoting general growth and stability in the county.
