County Government Partners With Church To Increase Access To Maternal Services

Bungoma County Government has partnered with the Salvation Army Church in a project to increase access to newborn and child health services.

The project is aimed at enhancing primary health care service at the grassroots level.

The three-year-old project, estimated to cost the entrepreneurs Sh. 50 million, will focus on key areas of Maternal Health, Agriculture, Education, Water among others in all the nine Sub Counties.

Addressing the residents during the launch of a borehole drilling project at Sirisia-Corps, Misikhu Ward, Bungoma Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany hailed the Salvation Army Development partners for their huge contribution towards improving the livelihoods of people and giving hope to Communities.

“We are delighted to have you as one of our distinguished partners in the quest to transform the lives of residents and in the journey to achieve our legacy regime,” she said.

Mbatiany noted that Governor Lusaka’s administration was focused on improving health services across the county.

“We have an able team of professionals, who are working around the clock to ensure that we deliver on our health manifesto. We are committed to ensuring that our health facilities are fully equipped with drugs to enhance better health care service provision,” she reiterated.

Mbatiany cautioned health care workers who engage in drug diversion that they will face the full force of the law if found culpable.

“As we forge into partnerships and collaborative ties to mobilize for more resources to enhance development for our people, I want to caution those fond misappropriating County resources that their days are numbered, ” she warned.

She noted that the health care workers engaging in drug diversion in hospitals, will not be spared either.

“Be warned, we won’t tolerate such indecent behaviour in this administration,” she affirmed.

Mbatiany stated the County Government’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of the residents and welcomed the idea of partnerships to enhance service delivery.

On the other hand, she also urged farmers to capitalize on the ongoing rains, while calling on residents to venture into poultry farming to increase the production at the Chwele Chicken Slaughterhouse.

She disclosed the slaughter house is experiencing shortage of chicken hence running below capacity. She however explained that Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka’s administration is in the process of empowering poor households to economic independence through the ‘Inua Jamii Na Kuku’ initiative (IJKI) which will be launched soon.

The deputy governor added that the initiative will help increase the number of chickens for slaughter and ensure that the slaughter house runs at full capacity.
