Communications Authority To Equip TVETs In Vihiga

The Communications Authority (CA) will partner with the county government of Vihiga to build capacity among the youth in the Information and Communications Technology field.
CA’s Western regional manager Musa Etiko said they will facilitate Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) colleges with necessary equipment to enable students to be trained on ICT along other courses they are undertaking.
“Doing so would enable the youth, particularly those in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutions, to acquire ICT skills to complement their trade tests,” Etiko said.
Etiko stated that the Authority will equip computer laboratories in these institutions with desktop computers to facilitate ICT skills learning.
The manager, who led the regional team on a courtesy call to the Deputy Governor Wiberforce Kitiezo, noted that ICT has become a necessity for all professionals and at all levels of learning.
Deputy Governor (DG) Kitiezo said the county administration is funding the TVET centres and urged more youths to enroll for various courses at these institutions.
Kitiezo encouraged school leavers to join the county polytechnics to learn various trades for self-employment.
