Kisii County Commissioner Mr. Tom Anjere has instructed national government administration officers to take immediate action against bhang and illicit brews, or be held personally responsible if they are found in their areas of jurisdiction.
Addressing the press after meeting with about 1000 county NGAOs at the Agricultural Training College in the outskirts of Kisii town, Anjere also lauded the officers for managing to destroy 22,500 liters of illicit liquor this month alone.
Anjere directed the officers to hold at least two meetings per Sub County every month to draw strategies on how to tackle challenges facing them, and public barazas to educate the residents about the dangers of illicit liquor and narcotic drugs.
On the emotive land issues in the county, the CC directed that Deputy County Commissioners attend land control board meetings to ensure no one was compromised and as well help in solving land conflicts.
Anjere said they had also strategized on how to assist Marani Sub County which was still lagging behind in secondary school enrolment by mopping up last year’s KCPE candidates from the area still at home. He however noted that the county had achieved 94 percent transition to secondary schools.
He urged residents to work closely with the national administration for faster development and also support security apparatus in the war against crime by volunteering information on criminal elements in their midst.
