COMMANDER OAB TOURS TANA RIVER AND LAMU COUNTIES

Operation Amani Boni Commander Col. Joel Tanui in the company of Sector South Commander Lt Col. Charles Imbo accompanied other multi-agency troop commanders as they visited security officers deployed in Tana River and Lamu Counties.

They visited troops serving under the OAB in Tarasaa, Minjila, Witu, Nyangoro, and Pandanguo among others as part of commanders’ routine visits geared towards boosting the morale of the security officers operating in the vast Boni forest.

Addressing the troops, Col. Tanui emphasized the importance of security agencies working together to achieve a common objective as the capacity and experience of fused troops will bring changes and, as a result, improve the socio-economic prosperity of the region.

“You’re the biggest resource that the government has, adding that the current administration has committed to continuously empower security forces so that they remain mission ready. Your security operations have brought a lot of changes, I get a lot of appreciation from local administration and other leaders for the work you guys do. I’m impressed, and I’ll even be more proud if you take it a notch higher said Col. Tanui.

He further urged the Commanders to check on the mental health of their security personnel so that they can go back home safe and sound after their tour of duty comes to an end.

Col. Tanui further visited Deputy County Commissioner Tana River County, Mr. John Kipsiwa and deliberated on the general security of the region and challenges faced by troops deployed in the area and how best they can be addressed. Despite challenges that are always there in operation, Mr. Kipsiwa affirmed that troops have always been just a call away whenever needed.
