Clerics Implore President Elect To Unite The Country

Clerics in Nyeri have urged president-elect Dr. William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua to embark on a journey of uniting the country after they are sworn into office.
Led by Bishop Paul Wanjohi of the New Life Church, the evangelical churches have termed the win of the duo as a win and great achievement for all the communities in the country and asked the president-elect and his deputy to work towards bringing together all the 47 counties.
“As you embark on your new positions, our prayer is that God will grant you more favour and wisdom. We trust that under your great leadership and guidance, you will bring the country together and take it to greater heights and achievements,” said Wanjohi.
On Monday, the seven-judge bench led by the Chief Justice Martha Koome unanimously dismissed all eight petitions that had been filed by Raila Odinga challenging the declaration of William Ruto as president-elect.
The Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Wafula Chebukati on August 15, declared Ruto as the winner of the 2022 presidential race after he garnered 7.1 million votes while Raila Odinga got 6.9 million votes.
The cleric also thanked Kenyans for remaining peaceful during the elections and for remaining tolerant even after the results were challenged at the Supreme Court.
The bishop further termed Ruto’s win as a win for the church and said that the church would continue to support them as they start their term in office. He said that they would continue to pray for both William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua to remain united as they execute their mandate.
“It is an open secret that you have partnered with the church previously and we are confident that this partnership will continue. Your win is also a win for the church. Our prayer is that God will hold you together and he will keep you in perfect peace as you bring into reality your manifesto,” he said.
Bishop Wanjohi was accompanied by bishops from the AIPCA church and the Akorino Church of Kenya.
