Nyahururu: As the year 2026 approaches, church ministers have been urged to be on the frontline to fast-track restoration in the church, families, and the community at large. Bishop Gabriel Kamau, Patron of the Nyahururu Clergy Forum, called on the clergy to position themselves as examples to instill moral, spiritual, and economic restoration in society.
According to Kenya News Agency, Bishop Kamau, speaking during the end-of-year prayers and thanksgiving service in Nyahururu town organized by the Nyahururu Clergy Forum, emphasized the importance of clergy leading their congregations, notably in prayers, to herald restoration in many sectors. He referred to the biblical story of David, who initially failed to carry the ark of the covenant correctly, resulting in consequences, but later rectified his actions by choosing priests to lead.
Despite various challenges, the clergy encouraged Christians to maintain faith in God’s word, emphasizing His awareness of their struggles. Bishop John Kariuki of Redeemed Church Nyahururu delivered a sermon from the book of Isaiah 22:11, highlighting the significance of offering thanks to God for His blessings.
Bishop Kariuki cautioned against trivializing God’s contributions to families and communities by attributing success to personal abilities or resources. He stressed that gratitude to God should prevail over self-reliance on wisdom, education, or talents. He also noted that comparing oneself to peers could obscure the recognition of God’s work in their lives.
Bishop Kariuki reiterated that despite challenges, many positive developments have occurred in the country and in Kenyans’ lives, necessitating gratitude to God. He described thanksgiving as a higher form of worship. During the service, the church dedicated the country and the year 2026 to God.
