Busia: Western Regional Commissioner Allan Machari has banned the use of civilians to provide security at political meetings and rallies, stating that the region has ample security personnel to secure such gatherings. Speaking after a meeting with security and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) from across the county, Machari emphasized the collaboration with political leaders to ensure that all political gatherings are secured by police officers.
According to Kenya News Agency, Machari stressed that moving forward, civilians will not be used for security at political events. Instead, politicians and organizers must inform the police in advance, who will then provide the necessary security. He highlighted the continued efforts by security agencies in Busia County to develop strategies that maintain peace and order during the campaign period.
The commissioner acknowledged the hard work of the security team in curbing recent insecurity cases in Busia County and assured residents of the region’s preparedness to respond to any emerging security threats. He pointed out that adequate resources are available for deployment when necessary to ensure a secure environment for the public.
Machari urged the public to collaborate closely with security agencies and government administrators by sharing information that could help prevent and address insecurity. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining law and order within the region.
The meeting with security and administration officers aimed to review existing security structures and develop new strategies to improve security management. Machari highlighted the responsibility of local committees in planning and executing security measures within their jurisdictions, under the guidance of a higher committee.
