Nyahururu: A.C.K. Christ the King Cathedral Church, Nyahururu, Diocese of Nyahururu, has launched a teaching manual aimed at equipping and guiding teens in holistic growth to become respectable and responsible members of society. This initiative comes amidst increasing unrest among students, particularly teenagers in senior schools across the country, where several institutions have reported property damage.
According to Kenya News Agency, Provost Rev. John Ngenye emphasized that the teaching manual’s goal is to develop teens not only spiritually but also in various aspects of social development. The manual aims to instill spiritual virtues such as purity, honesty, and respect for authority and others. Additionally, it covers skills like gospel outreach, public speaking, and event organization.
The teaching manual also focuses on life skills, including stress management and anger management. Rev. Ngenye highlighted that the program will guide teens in building self-esteem, maintaining health and physical well-being, and developing conflict resolution skills.
Furthermore, the manual seeks to teach teens responsibility by instructing them on financial management, debt management, and fostering a saving culture. It also includes guidance on enhancing family relationships, particularly through bonding with parents and fostering effective partnerships with them.
Rev. Ngenye stressed the importance of consistent instruction, which will be facilitated by the teaching manual, ensuring that parents are informed about their children’s education in the teen department. He urged parents to collaborate closely with the teens’ department to expedite the development of holistic skills, aiming to nurture teens into respectable and responsible individuals within both the church and society.
