Busia To Host The 4th Branch Of KIHBT

Busia County in partnership with the Ministry of Roads and Transport will host the 4th branch of the Kenya Institute of Highway Building and Technology (KIHBT) to improve services in the sector.

The institution which will be established on a five-acre piece of land in Rwatama, Angurai South, Teso North sub County will offer training to school levers and capacity building to sectoral officers and contractors who serve the County and Country as a whole.

“There are certain concepts in the roads sector we pass on through capacity building courses to these people to have good products at the end,” said Eng. Maurice Mubinde, the Director of Kenya Institute of Highway Building and Technology while on a courtesy call to Busia Governor Dr Paul Otuoma.

Otuoma welcomed the noble initiative saying they will enhance the partnership to offer job opportunities to the locals and realize the benefits soon.

“This is a good opportunity for us and our people as a whole where they will acquire knowledge and skills and labor at the same time,” said the Governor as he appreciated the incorporation of technology in their training to beef up performance of machine operators and contractors.

The CECM for Roads, Transport and Public Works Eng. Andrew Meso noted that they are already working on training the contractors and machine operators in line with the advanced technology and that they will be certified to warrant them work in the County.

“They will be training on our roads that we will set up specifically for that, a process we have looked at as labor based,” added Eng. Meso.
