Bar Owners Warned Against Breaking Liquor Regulations

As the fight against illicit brew and substance abuse in central Kenya continues to gain momentum, bar owners have been warned against breaching liquor regulations.

Speaking during an early morning raid at Kenol Town Murang’a South, the Assistant County Commissioner Kimorori Division Julius Kambi, noted that a number of outlets within the area were flouting liquor regulations with impunity by not adhering to the operating hours stipulated in their licenses.

‘We have received intelligent reports that many outlets within this Migingo area are operating beyond the stipulated hours and we will not hesitate to arrest and arraign in a court of law those breaching the laws,’ he said.

‘This is a fight that the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) are committed to carrying out to the very end so that we can rescue the future generation from the ruins of alcohol and substance abuse,’ the ACC added.

The operation that was conducted at 8 am Wednesday found 6 bars that were already open with revelers partaking in alcohol.

’20 persons were arrested during the operation and an assortment of accessories from the outlets confiscated to accompany them for the charges as they await to be arraigned in court,’ stated the ACC.
