Kikuskong: Residents of Kikuskong and Tiriita villages in the Senetwo area of Songhor-Soba Ward witnessed a significant boost in the local water network on Monday after Walter Kipkemei, an MP aspirant for Tindiret Constituency, donated a fresh consignment of water pipes aimed at expanding community access to clean water.

According to Kenya News Agency, the donation was delivered during a small community gathering and is expected to support ongoing efforts to connect more homes to a reliable water supply, addressing a persistent challenge in the area. Speaking during the handover, Kipkemei highlighted that the project reflects his broader commitment to ensuring that no household in Tindiret is excluded from essential services. He emphasized that access to safe water is a right, noting the importance of families not having to walk long distances or rely on unsafe sources.

Kipkemei added that enhancing village water systems would remain a priority in his development agenda. Local residents praised this gesture, stating it comes at a critical time when many households face severe water shortages. Mary Chebet, a resident of Tiriita, expressed relief, noting that the new water pipes would significantly impact their daily lives and reduce the time spent searching for water.

Another resident, Samuel Too, voiced optimism that the improved pipeline network would lower health risks associated with using untreated water. He expressed gratitude for the attention given to their needs, highlighting the potential for improved public health outcomes.

Community leaders also welcomed the initiative, urging continued collaboration between local leadership and residents as installations begin. The distribution of the pipes marks one of the latest grassroots engagements by Kipkemei as he continues to outline his development plans ahead of the next general election. Residents in Kikuskong and Tiriita expressed hope that the initiative would lead to lasting improvements once the new connections are completed.
