Angolan sprinter Marco dos Santos will compete next Sunday, in Hungary’s Budapest City, in the 200 meters race of the World Athletics Championship, with the aim of improving his time by 21 seconds and 22 tenths, said Monday in the Province of Luanda.

This mark was conquered in the National Championship of this sport in May, this year, in Eswatini.

Speaking to ANGOP before travelling to the competition venue, the national coach Santana João, said that the athlete will be placed in one of the preliminary series, involving nine runners, in which only the top two qualify for the last round.

To note that on Wednesday, the sprinter started the adaptation program to the tartan track, and the next day he is to work on activating strength, ending on Friday with a massage and stretching session.

Marco Marco dos Santos is the current champion of the 100 and 200 meters race and is looking to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

He won the gold medal at the national tournament held in the Republic of Mozambique, with a time of 21.66 in the 200 meters dash.
