Angola joins African electoral observation mission in Kenya

Addis Ababa – Angola is integrating the short-term joint electoral observation mission of the African Union (AU) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), tasked with monitoring general elections in Kenya, set for 9 August.
Angola is represented by the representative to the African Union (AU) Francisco José da Cruz and the director of the Legal, Economic and Social Studies Centre of the Law Faculty of the Agostinho Neto University José Octávio Serra Van-Dúnem.
The Angolan representatives have been participating, since Thursday in preparatory meetings on the Code of Conduct for African Observation Mission in Nairobi, Kenya.
The three-day event will also address the terms of reference for credible elections, the political and historical context and the perspectives of civil society.
The participants will also address the participation of women, youths and marginalised groups in the current electoral process in Kenya.
Over 700 observers from the AU and other regional and international organisations will witness the general elections in Eastern African country that will be held on 9 August.
