Administrator Appeals to Public to Retrieve Unclaimed Title Deeds from Busia Law Court

Busia: A court Administrator at Busia Law Court, Joseph Bosire, has urged members of the public who submitted their title deeds as bond or surety for their relatives to come forward and collect these documents.

According to Kenya News Agency, Bosire revealed that the documents have been in the custody of the facility since 2012, with no one coming forward to claim them. “Some of these documents are here because the accused persons failed to attend court sessions,” he said, explaining that the owners have a right to visit the court, be issued with a warrant of arrest, and assist the court in tracing the accused persons when they collect their documents.

Bosire further explained that in cases where the accused person is at large, the court could auction the land parcel to recover the surety amount, with any remaining balance being returned to the landowner. “I therefore want to urge members of the public to be keen in ensuring that those whom they guarantee through surety attend court sessions without fail,” Bosire pleaded.

The documents in question were deposited at the facility between 2012 and 2017, with the related legal cases having been concluded and disposed of.
