Accolades For The Outgoing Uasin Gishu Police Commander

Eldoret: Security stakeholders in Uasin Gishu have praised the outgoing County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi for his service to the residents of the cosmopolitan county during his 3-year tenure as county Police Boss.

According to Kenya News Agency, during the farewell ceremony held in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Dr. Eddyson Nyale commended Mwanthi and his team for their successful security operations against illicit brews and drugs, which have contributed to a peaceful Uasin Gishu. Sub-County Police Commanders, led by Zephaniah Kamureny, described Mwanthi as a mentor who helped officers uphold integrity in service, promoting accountability, human rights, and public trust.

The event was seen as a moment of appreciation for Mwanthi’s commitment to law and order, community policing, and building trust with the community. ‘Thank you for your patriotism and for serving the people of Uasin Gishu with respect and humility,’ said Kamureny, the County Police Commander for Kapseret.

Members of the Business Community, led by Abdi Rizak Yusuf, praised Mwanthi for fostering collaboration between security agencies and the community, which facilitated information sharing concerning criminal activities. Yusuf expressed gratitude for the reduction in robbery and theft cases, attributing it to Mwanthi’s efforts.

In his farewell address, Mwanthi reflected on his relationship with the people of Uasin Gishu, appreciating their cooperation during his tenure. He emphasized his connection with ordinary citizens, understanding their struggles and experiences. Mwanthi urged residents to embrace kindness and integrity, emphasizing that ‘goodness is the only investment that never fails.’

Despite his transfer to Nairobi following his promotion as the Traffic Commandant, Mwanthi assured residents he would continue supporting them. He expressed gratitude for the unity and support shown to him during his service, describing himself as an ambassador of the county in Nairobi.

Mwanthi commended the business community, church leaders, residents, and security stakeholders for maintaining peace and security in Eldoret and Uasin Gishu County. He gave special recognition to chiefs and assistant chiefs for their role in community policing due to their close relationships with residents.

He noted that the cooperation between security agencies and residents had significantly improved safety in Eldoret, allowing people to move freely without fear. Mwanthi cited this as evidence of the success achieved through collective responsibility and teamwork.

The outgoing police commander encouraged continued collaboration between residents and security teams to maintain Eldoret’s reputation as a safe and organized city, not only in Kenya but across Africa.
