Accident Claims Life of Senior Police Officer in Mbita Sub-County

Mbita: Grief engulfed Mbita Sub-County after a senior police officer died last night in a road accident. Confirming the incident, area Deputy County Commissioner Peter Mutiso said the deceased, identified as Chief Inspector Maurice Kyalo, was involved in an accident near Nyakayiemba Primary School along the Homa Bay-Mbita road.

According to Kenya News Agency, the deceased lost control of his vehicle before hitting a culvert. The officer, who was the Officer Commanding Mbita Police Station (OCS), had been on leave and was on his way back for duty. Mutiso suggested that there might have been a problem on the road that caused the vehicle to veer off course.

Following the incident, security officers from Ogongo Police Station rushed to the scene and took their colleague to Ogongo Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Mr. Mutiso led a group of officers to the scene as investigations commenced. A team from the county level joined them, assigning officers to investigate how the accident occurred.

The body was taken to Med 25 Mortuary in Kirindo. Mutiso described Kyalo as a dedicated public servant who would always respond whenever he was needed, emphasizing his steadfast service to the citizens.
